IM CAMEO TUTE
I saw a request for cameos posted in news:alt.discuss.animated.gifs and realized most people are makeing cameos from black siloettes sill..... oh well I cant spell it right ;-) I'm dyslexic. I got to thinking about a cameo my great aunt used to wear when she "went to town" on Saturdays. (ok so i know everybody goes to town but for her it was a once a week thing) I went to image magick to try and make one of the more traditional cameos. Here are the results:

I then went to IM and used the PAINT option set at MATTE, REPLACE, FUZZ 999, COLOR=WHITE and clicked the background white to amke it transparent. You might have to do this more than once ot get all of the color in the background gone. After all the background was gone I went to COMPOSITE and composited the original jpg pic back on the reduced color one. I used COMPOSITE set at IN with everything else at the defaut settings all you have to do is enter the ori addy, change the OVER on the dropdown menu to IN and click comp. This left me with a head that looked the same as it did. Still no background but with the ori on top it gave more definition to the colors in the pic for the embossing. I then went to EMBOSS which i think is under the EFFECTS catagory. i erased the numbers that are set in the text area and used the number -250 and clicked the EMBOSS radio button and then clicked the button at the bottom that makes it happen ;-) you should have a nice detailed embossed head now. STILL NO BACKGROUND! I then went back into COMPOSITE and changed the addy to this picture:
and changed the drop down menu at the bottom to MODULATE comp and clicked composite that gave me these results:

Then go back into COMPOSITE and enter the addy of the head you just transloaded and use OVER composite. Which if you transloaded and left Im the drop menu at the bottom should have it already as the default. Now you should have a nice cameowhite head on a background of lightpink. Go to DECORATE and enter the numbers 15x15+3+5 change the gray to gray100 (IM doesnt recognize just plain white) and click frame and then the button at the bottom that makes it happen. You should now have your cameo. Output it like before and transload it and there it is.
